  • Country Legend Glen Campbell Dies At 81, Prompting an Outpouring of Support From Fellow Country Stars

The Country Music Icon's Death Hit the Music World Hard

When country legend Glen Campbell died earlier this week at age 81, people weren't necessarily surprised; after all, he'd announced a few years ago that he was battling Alzheimer's Disease, and it was well-known that the effects of the degenerative disease had forced him to retire from his music career. Still, his death was a tragic day not only for his family, but also for his longtime fans and for his peers in the country music world.

In fact, they didn't hesitate to send out their condolences on social media, with many offering support to his wife and daughter, and others remarking on what his music meant to them. Current stars such as Rascal Flatts and Blake Shelton took to the Internet to comment, as did fellow icons such as Dolly Parton.

To learn what some of Campbell's colleagues in the music industry said about his passing, please continue to Page (2) for the story.
