“Don't Take It Away” was released by Conway in March of 1979 as the first single from the album, Cross Winds. Of course, the song was a mega-hit for Conway, topping the country music charts and becoming his 21st single to reach #1! Amazing!!

The passionate song tells the story of a man begging his love for forgiveness. He knows that he did wrong and tells her that he'll do whatever it takes, including, “Here in front of all your friends / I'm gonna get down on my knees”. 1. We need more Conways, George jones, Willies and good old country songs like, the George Straits, Alan Jackson’s , Oak Ridge Boys, Alabamas, Bellamy Brothers, Jim Brown. Keep us country, not country hip hop. If they ever do a movie about these great singers, Scotty McCreary us the closest you’ll get voice wise and think it them.
