While this is certainly a tragic time for the Strickland family, they do have the support of fans and the authorities. In fact, Strickland's wife praised the efforts of those searching for Craig's body.
“The Oklahoma Highway Patrol having gone above and beyond, especially going through this struggle, is the most comforting thing you can have,” Helen Strickland said. Thursday, search crews found boat marks, dog prints, and footprints near a peninsula on Kaw Lake where the men put their boat in on Sunday. The discovery helped narrow down the recovery area by 50%. “To see how much more work can be done in a specific area, it has given us a lot of rest because we feel like that'll give us a lot of hope they will find Craig soon,” Helen Strickland said. As the search continues, Strickland’s family is hopeful that they will soon have closure. “He’s in a better place, but we still want that closure to see him. So, we’re going to praise God and know that there’s a purpose. If anything, if it’s to bring Him glory, then that’s what we’re going to do.”
Like everyone else in the country music community, we're sending our thoughts and prayers out to Helen Strickland and the rest of the Strickland family. Though this is certainly a devastating time for them, hopefully they can take comfort in the fact that Craig's fans are grieving right along with them.
