  • Taylor Swift Is In Hot Water For Not Giving Attribution In Her Music Videos: She Does What She Wants’

Having credited a plagiarized source and yet refusing to credit the original source — even though the artist's work is now floating around the web is just wrong. According to Ally Burguieres, who's original work was plagiarized, part of the infringement agreement was for Swift to donate to charity. Swift's team has yet to do so.

In fact, Swift's team claims that Ally Burguieres is simply seeking publicity through Swift's successes as a musician. AGAIN, that is just PLAIN WRONG! She created a work of art and should be credited in the same manner the imitator was, especially to the millions that have seen it and continue to see it through a variety of image searches. Infringement cases are rarely as simple, and yet Swift's team refuses to make it right.

“…this has generated for Ms. Burguieres and her store, in early November, Ms. Swift’s office made a fair offer of payment well above a reasonable licensing fee for the short time that the fan art was posted online,” the rep tells Rolling Stone….We have tried on multiple occasions to address Ms. Burguieres’ concerns, but these actions make it clear to us that this is just an unfortunate effort to extract more money and more publicity.”

And, yet, they refuse to actually address that this work is by Burguieres. They also failed to donate the portion of funds to charity, which continues to be a claim in the settlement. They claim to not “want to name her as the artist.” WOW! That is just evil!

    Burguieres had this to say:

“You told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe that you were ‘struck with this overwhelming sense of fear’ about the consequences. Did it ever occur to you I felt the same fear, and that instead of the decency with which Apple acquiesced to your demands, my simple requests are being met with contention and insult? I truly believe it’s a disservice to artists that you chose to call those who stand up for their rights greedy or ungrateful. It pains me to see you and your team use the name of independent artists to get better compensation for yourself, but then intimidate and belittle other artists when you’re in the position to give credit and do the compensating.”

How do you feel about this? Do you feel that it is 1. wrong that artist refuses to name an artist of the original work that a fan plagiarized, even if you paid a portion of a licensing settlement? 2. wrong that her team continues to leave the author's original work unnamed — out of refusal to acknowledge the original work?

The original source must always be addressed. You can't just do something and make up your own rules thereafter… especially with no previous agreement set forth. That's unfair, and it's bullying. Do you think Burguieres is just trying to get publicity for her work? Even if she was, do you not think she deserves credit for her work?

    Leave your thoughts below!

    1. Since she left country where she gained all her fame and fortune from, I’ve list alit if respect for get. All of a sudden her whole demeanor has changed, her dress is very provocative and it seems like she’s trying to be something she’s not. My dad always told me to never forget where you came from, I think she’s having an identity crisis and doesn’t know who she is anymore.

    2. Sorry but I’ve never been a fan…my opinion she’s like a spoil child who does as she pleases…sad she can now steal another’s artist work…justice should be taken care of…she needs to pay the price…stealing is stealing…
