Exactly a week ago today, the Country World was hit hard as bad news struck — Craig Strickland was found dead!
After being reported missing on December 28, friends and family were frantically searching for the up and comer, who joined friend, Chase Moreland, for a duck hunting trip on Kaw Lake on what was quite possibly the worst day on 2015. Setting foot in blizzard-like conditions, Craig and Chase were overturned in a boat, losing control and ultimately their lives.
Last heard from on December 27, a search party set out to find the men — no one expected that they wouldn't be alive. In fact, while the body of Chase had been found, footprints appearing in the snow and the discovery of Strickland's beloved dog, Sam, gave family hope. It wasn't until a week later that they would find his body, as well.
She lost her soul mate. But, Strickland's heartbroken widow continues to have our sentiments, as she keeps her class and faith at such a heart-wrenching moment in Country Music history. Find out what she said on Twitter.
