It's not often that popular artists are willing to go against the grain and challenge industry standards, but in an interview with Fox News, the two were upfront about how they let the pressure to live up to their first single influence their songwriting process.
“We were just trying to be machines to put out something that would live up to the first single,” Dye said. “And then finally we were like, ‘Let's stop lying to ourselves and put something out that we believe in.' It doesn't matter if it's fast or slow.”
This trailblazing duo also made it clear that they won't ever compromise their ethics or their artistry.
“Of course there's pressure … if you don't have this slamming up-tempo (song) that has a little rap thing in it, then it's not going to make it on country radio,” Marlow said. “We are saying something and we're not backing down. This is the message. This is what we want to say.”
Wow! These are insightful and powerful words from someone so young. We have no doubt that we'll be hearing much more from this talented twosome very soon…and we think they're destined to have a positive influence on the country music industry!
