It actually wasn't so unusual for Simon to lend his name to a worthy cause. In fact, the native Tennessean has previously stepped out in support of local charitable organizations.
As “The Tennessean” reports:
Simon also came to Nashville last year to lend a hand to another cause. He played a private concert at a Belle Meade home to raise funds for the COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) Foundation in honor of the late Phil Everly of the Everly Brothers.
We love this story because it shows that generosity crosses musical borders, and that artists are willing to unite with those from other genres for a good cause. We're confident that Simon's actions will set a good example for other musicians and for the entire music industry!
