Even after 19 years, country superstar Tim McGraw knows how to keep the spice in a relationship.
Calling Faith ‘the best person I will ever know,' Tim, 48, recalled the romantic way he asked the country queen for her hand in marriage – backstage before a 1996 concert in Grand Junction, Colorado.
The Indian Outlaw hitmaker said, ‘We were in a dressing room, and it was trailer houses then.'
McGraw added, ‘It was rainy and stuff and we'd been on tour for a while together. I'd joked around with her about getting married, and so…I looked at her, I grabbed her by the hands before I went onstage…and I said, “I'm really serious. I want you to marry me.'”
He added, ‘She laughed. She said, “We're at a country music festival in a trailer house and you're asking me to marry you?” And I said, “Yeah.'”
Romantic: The singer said in his Facebook video, ‘I'd joked around with her about getting married, and so…I looked at her, I grabbed her by the hands before I went onstage…and I said, “I'm really serious. I want you to marry me'”
Afterward, the Live Like You Were Dying singer took to the stage for his usual concert, but was elated to find a special surprise backstage after the show.
Tim lovingly recalled how Faith, also 48, answered his proposal — in lipstick, on the dressing room mirror.
‘Yes, I'm going to be your wife,' she wrote, punctuating the message with a lipstick kiss.
It's clear the two country sensations have kept things interesting in the intervening years that followed, piling up scores of hit songs, dozens of awards – and three growing daughters.
