  • Tragic News About Grand Ole Opry Member Jim Ed Brown

You already are aware that one of The Grand Ole Opry's own passed away recently.  Jim Ed Brown was a fixture in country music and he left a hole that cannot ever be filled.  With a career spanning over 50 years, Brown made friends everywhere he went.

Alongside his friendly demeanor was his undying Christian faith, sustaining him until the end.  Brown died on June 11, 2015, and many in attendance at his memorial on June 15th attested to his compassion, his kindness and his faith.

Jim Ed Brown was unfairly diagnosed with lung cancer in September 2014, he didn't let the cancer slow him down, returning to The Grand Ole Opry Stage in January of this year.

It was announced that Brown, along with his sisters, would be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in March, 2015. In April, he celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the ACM Awards with his good friends Randy Travis and Janie Flick.
