It's always tragic when someone is taken far before their time. But when it's someone known in the industry, it is a grim reality that it can happen to anyone at any time. The Country Music industry was shaken to its core when Daron Norwood was discovered dead at the age of 49.
In the early 90's, Norwood obtained modest fame with 2 albums that charted 6 singles on Billboard's Hot Country. In 1995, he admitted his alcoholism, quit country music and embarked on a motivational journey, speaking to children about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse. His program, Keep It Straight, was founded in 1997.
According to an interview with Norwood he didn't “quit life” but he did “quit the record deal, quit the shows, the alcohol and the drugs.”
