Anything featuring these three guys I will definitely listen to! One of my favorite performers of all times is Willie Nelson so hearing him preform with the legendary Merle Haggard is even better.

Country legends Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson have released a brand new song from their album Django and Jimmie that pays homage to yet another Country icon, the late Johnny Cash. The single, called Missing Ol’ Johnny Cash, was written by Haggard on the spur of the moment.

“The first time Merle saw Johnny Cash, he was an inmate in one of the prison shows that Cash played. They were friends all the way up until the end.”

Haggard said he simply wrote out the lyrics while they were in the studio, calling it somewhat less of a song, and more of a spoken verse.

“It came about around the time we were trying to put some songs together,” Haggard said. To which Cannon added, “He just had the lyric, and he created the arrangement on the spot.”

Johnny Cash will forever be remembered in our hearts as Country Musics All-Time Favorite Artist.

This is a big honor to see both of these tycoons who are in their late 80's still preforming and singing.
