Growing up in a small town was an experience to say the least. The songs many country artists sing about the small time life are in most cases spot on. You have the individuals who grow up and never leave the town, they literally seem to get sucked into the towns vortex. Then you have others that can not seem to get far enough away from their roots and where they grew up. We have town scandals, those are of the plenty. Gossip spreads like wildfire and always takes on a dramatic spin or two. Honestly, I have always found it entertaining to give them something to talk about and see just how far from the truth it spins. Lets not forget the drunks and the failed marriages. There is most certainly a plethora of these little gems in our small town.
There are great things about a small town as well. When a person is in need or a tragedy strikes our little group of misfits always somehow pulls together for the greater good. Another benefit is if you drank a little to much the night before and forgot what you did there will be plenty of people to fill you in on your antics. It really is fantastic!
In all honesty country music really hits the nail on the head. Many of these artists have grown up in a small town and lived the life. They know the struggles and the perks. This makes fans more apt to really connect with a song and be proud of where they came from.
