  • The Emotional Story Behind Luke Bryans Heart-Wrenching Ballad, ‘Do I’

Luke recently sat down with CMT in a one-on-one testimony of his experience in love and how a song, embraced by many, was actually a downfall in his real life. This song might has well have been added to the soundtrack for Disney's new “Inside Out” movie, because it sure leaves the listener emotionally turned inside out — feeling Luke's pain and leaving a knot tied in the middle of their chest.
“The song is about a couple that doesn’t know if their worlds are jiving with each other, or they don’t know how their relationship’s going,” he said. “The majority of the video will be me in an elevator singing. There’s a set of actors, and they are doing their performance. You think it’s about them really, the whole song. And then I come in, and it’s actually my spouse that was almost in a situation where she may have cheated.”

This musical storyteller leaves us in a twisted feeling of lost love, as he teamed up with Lady Antebellum's Charles Kelly and Dave Haywood, and their bandmate Hilary Scott to write the music that brought the lyrics to life.

“You can tell immediately the song was about our struggle … my wife and I,” Luke added, “So, it’s a cool little twist at the end that I don’t think people will be ready for. We just kind of felt like doing it in this kind of setting would be fun.”

This cool little twist allowed for an ending we definitely wouldn't have expected. Watching the music video tells the full story. While the song may have be contemplating an end, especially in the situation where the wife may have cheated.

The husband swallows his pride and asks her for another chance — as if he did something wrong. He loves her so much that he asks whether or not he gets another chance. In this, you definitely feel the heart-felt message and break out in tears, as your ears start to heat up and the bottom of your chest explodes through your face. You definitely have to check out the video — if you haven't already!
