In the year 2000 these six females claimed to the top with their talented vocals and love for Country Music.
1. Martina McBride was able to crank out three top charting records in one year: “Love's the Only House,” “I Love You” and “There You Are.” There's so much love coming from that woman! She was able to have a huge following relate to her, and hence, made her the number one chick in Country music.
2. Dixie Chicks also was able to lead three records to the top of the Country charts. As a group, they wrote, “Goodbye Earl,” “Cold Day in July,” and “Without You.” They took more of the loss inspired route. Either way, they made it out handsomely by the end of the year.
3. Lee Ann Womack had her greatest hit yet with, “I Hope You Dance.” She collaborated with Sons of the Desert on this project. Fifteen years later, it's still a staple song to play for special occasions today. Her other hit from that year was, “Ashes By Now.”
4. Reba McEntire took the romantic route. “I'll Be,” which was released in the middle of that year, is an incredibly touching and heartwarming song about one's love for family or a significant other. Her second song that was released by December, “We're So Good Together,” is a light-hearted and fun song to dance to, which really shows off Reba's strong voice. Both are beautifully written and performed.
5. SHeDAISY came out with “This Woman Needs,” openly communicating about what a girlfriend needs from her loved one, and “I Will…But,” setting boundaries with a love interest in a playful way. They all such a beautiful tone in their voices. What happened to them?
6. Faith Hill released a single, “The Way You Love Me,” which I think is one of Country music's grooviest songs. She also put out a duet record with her husband Tim McGraw called “Let's Make Love.” I like to think that in the music video, they had a hard time not cracking up during takes.
Would you agree about the events that were taking place worldwide the year before inspired these artists to write such songs? If your opinion differs from this standpoint, what is your take?
Which one of these Y2K hit records were your favorite back in the day?
