Maddie & Tae just started blazing their trail into Country music last year. In 2013, they admitted they were extremely busy writing songs. But at their first CMA Award Show, they expressed,
‘Actually the night of the CMAs last year we were in our PJs eating popcorn, so we’re upgrading from PJs to actual CMA dresses,' Tae says enthusiastically. ‘We’re upgrading from the couch to the red carpet.'
‘Big move here!' Maddie adds.
In 2014 and 2015, Maddie and Tae did not a single award. However, they were nominated for the 2015 CMT Award Show's Best Duo of the Year, Breakthrough Video of the Year for their song, “Girl in a Country Song.”
In 2014, their song came out too late to be even nominated for both the CMT and CMA's.
Little Big Town has won awards from other award shows, such as ACM Awards, CMA Awards, ACA Awards, ACM Awards, the Grammy's and the Daytime Emmy Award Shows.
If I were them, I wouldn't be complaining.
They still have yet to puncture the award ceiling at the annual CMT Awards as well as the Teen Choice awards. They have been nominated at those shows for years, but have yet to win one award.
Dierks Bentley has never won at the Grammy's from his nominations. He has won a CMA award, however. The CMA Awards are more diverse for Country music artists. The Grammy's may have too much competition within the music industry as a whole, which would make it much harder to win.
There's always next year, Bentley. Just know that you have fans who love you!
I wonder if other award shows that are held earlier in the year, have any influence on the decision makers or voters for award shows that air later within the year.
It's a thought to ponder.
What's you take on this?
Why do you think these artists above have not received CMT or Grammy awards? Are they the Leonardo DiCaprio of Country Music?
