Saying farewell to a loved one is never a task taken lightly. Grief is a painful emotional roller coaster, we have all ridden. In fact this last week we laid to rest a friend of mine, a beautiful young woman who was taken from this world to soon. “High On That Mountain” by Vince Gill truely speaks of the pain we all feel but the rejoice for the deceased. Country music has a knack for putting our feelings into words. Vince Gill sings this song with such passion, it is a timeless classic. He originally came out with this song in 1995 and topped charts throughout the country. Today this song still rings true and is thriving on!
Many artists have tried to remake his song, but in my opinion nobody has even come close. Vince wrote this song in tribute to a dear friend passing, Keith Whitley a legendary musician. Since he has sang it multiple times, as recently as a few years ago when his brother passed. What a strong man to be able to sing these lyrics without breaking down emotionally.
