  • Ashley Campbell’s Letter To Glen Campbell’s Fans After His Passing

Losing someone you love is one of the most difficult things anyone will ever go through. the loss you feel is great and the void you feel is even greater. Imagine having that person be someone you have shared with the world. Someone who was not just your family or friend but a person who influenced the lives of millions of people. Does your grief feel shared?

Ashley Campbell, just days after her father's passing, wrote a letter to his fans. One that touched hearts and moved people to tears.

    She wrote:

“Dear Reader,” she began. “Many of you know my father, Glen Campbell as the guitar player, singer, and international icon that he was. Some of you may know him as the wonderful man and friend he was to so many people. I had the privilege of knowing Glen Campbell as a father. I also had the honor and privilege of caring for my dad through his entire journey with Alzheimer’s disease.”

“Music was the thing that could bring him back to us when the fog would pull him just a little further away,” she continued. “When I wrote ‘Remembering’ I knew there would come a time when he wouldn’t know who I am and I was looking for a way to be able to reach him, even when he seemed lost. I wrote this song to bring him comfort and to let him know that I would always be there for him. Now, after he has passed, when I sing this song, I feel like he is reaching back for me as I reached for him. I can feel him with me in the music and he is comforting me now.”

As she closed her note, Ashley concluded, “Thank you for remembering my father with me.”
