  • Singer of Little Big Town Defends Taylor Swift After Backlash on Womens March

Money doesn't fix everything and poor Taylor Swift just can't catch a break

In today's world of instant access and people hiding their rudeness under the Freedom of Speech umbrella, it seems that if you're a star or celebrity of any kind you are damned if you do and damned if you don't.

As a human, I do not understand why people feel that it's ok to be rude to anyone but I guess I am just an odd duck.

In case you weren't aware more than 2 million women marched in support of women's rights and no matter what your views on it at the very least it's great to live in a country where we can express our opinions in such a manner.

Now the story begins when Taylor Swift, in support of women's rights tweeted this:

    womens1

ok so I see nothing wrong with this. She is showing support for women because she is one. I would think that this would be met with kind words and support because that is what women are supposed to do right….support each other….guess not because this is what happened.

The list of vile tweets which are too numerous to post goes on and on. Some of her fans came to her defense but the damage was done and of course the media caught wind of it and fanned the flames of discontent.

This of course does not sit with some artists such as Little Big Towns Jimi Westbrooke who had this to say.

“None of us can understand what it’s like to live under that kind of scrutiny and all I can say is she’s an unbelievably talented woman with an extremely kind and generous heart and if she could have been there I’m sure she would have,” Westbrook tells the Australian Associated Press. “She’s always loving and accepting of everyone and does her best to show that love for everyone.”

I don't care what side of the aisle people are one, who they voted for or what they believe. As a human, this kind of divisive mentality, to feel that we can shun someone for what they believe is uncalled for. I don't care if it's Taylor Swift or your neighbor next door being kind is not that difficult and will only serve to make the world a better place.
