  • Lorrie Morgan is the Latest Country Star To Share Her Opinion on the State Of Country Music…and She’s Not Happy

It seems that country music isn't what it once was and a lot of country music legends are starting to speak out about it.

We all know that things evolve over time. Things change and nothing can remain the same forever. This is true even in music. Yet while things can change should it really change so much to the point where it is unrecognizable anymore?

It seems that there is a disconnect between what is being played on country radio and what is considered country music. Now, most people would just shake their head and tell the haters to to move it along but what happens when the haters are the very people you grew up idolizing?

Lorrie Morgan is just the latest country music sensation to speak out against the state of country music today and what she had to say wasn't pretty.

To hear what she and other country music icons have to say about today's country hits keep reading on the next page.

    15. George Jones, Conway Twitty, George Strait, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Randy Travis! All great country artists that I enjoy listening too but that doesn’t mean that I can’t enjoy Darius Rucker, Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney or Jason Aldean.

    16. Diana Landry says:

      I can’t think of it???

    17. I have 300+ old country cd’ s. Don’t even put the radio on anymore just listen to my oldies.

    18. I agree, Lori, we need more artists to keep it country. It seems the younger generation wants to mold it into their idea of country music instead of loving country music for what it was.

    19. I think someone missed the point alanJackson is true country and so is Sammy Kershaw so dont leave them out

    25. Mary Berns says:

All they want to do today is scream and there is no story line usually, if there is you can’t understand them. Need the old ones back.

    26. Jane Miller says:

I agree. The music today is not real country, and I don’t like it.

    27. She hit the nail on the head. Some of this so-called country music sounds like a repeat of all the rest of the new comers. Every once in a while you may hear a good country song come out.

    28. Warren Pratt says:

Corporations who own the radio stations and record labels are the reason for this! Notice any of the bigger name artist from the past who started their own record labels getting air play? They have yanked the Nashville & Texas sound out with fiddles and steel guitars and replaced it with pop and rap. They claim they do study groups and get their responses to what they like and want played, but they fail to tell you the study groups they listen to are located in New York and California! They push club music that is mostly about partying, not the heart felt country music as we could have heard on radio in the past. I haven’t listen to an over the air country station in the past couple of years. Thank God for internet radio and places like YouTube that you can still hear country music. I challenge anyone who has the power to start a new format that plays new music by country music artist from the past few decades and last see who has the most listeners!

    29. Betty Wilson says:

      I love country music!!!!

    30. Frances Corn says:

      Thank you so much.
